Alright. Blog posting. Not something I'm awesome at. Unfortunate, because I'm awesome at a lot of things. Let's see. Last weekend! It was a good weekend. Went to a rock festival. The USA version of Download Festival, to be exact. Bangin' good times. Here's why:

The Lineup That We Saw Bits Of™:

Rougewave
TV on the Radio
The Shins
Coheed and Cambria
Muse
The Yeah Yeah Yeahs
Beck

All that was the main stage, save for Coheed, which we left the main stage to see because The Shins were not very radical. (Rougewave wasn't too good either, by the way.) The first part of the day was all quite fun. Eating overpriced food, chillin' with my dawgs, and with Josh, and observing him chill with his dawgs. TV on the Radio and Coheed were also very nice acts.

Of course, as you may have assumed from earlier posts by (my lovely cohort) Sue (if you are an avid and eagle-eyed reader), the main reason we were at this gig was to see Muse. It's all about Muse. No one rocks harder. That is to say, don't no one rock harder. Than Muse. And no one did. You can find some limited footage of this on youtube (search for "Muse Download") if you want a demonstration of how hard they rocked. It was quite hard rocking, I might say. I might also say that it was one of the better experiences in my life. But wouldn't that be an exaggeration? Oops, no. It wouldn't. Let's say: they played all their best music, played it well, and the crowd was as excited and exciting as an explosion. With lots of cars getting thrown around. In slow motion.

After that, we were all somewhat blown away. And our ears may not have been working as well as they previously were. But from what we could discern, the Yeahs played good music but were a bit distractingly fucked up. Their lead singer is an ugly whore. Seriously. Listen to their studio music, never see them live.

Beck was a good headliner. His music couldn't compete with Muse, but he put on a great show. Through his entire performance there was a smaller stage, with a puppet version of the band. With their own lights and their own screen in the back, and their own prop depicting a smaller puppet show. Quite amazing. At one point the band played very extensive percussion and other such things entirely on a dinner table with dinner impliments, on stage. Including backup "vocals" done by rubbing fingers over wine glasses. Very slick.

There was also a bunch of humor sketches played out by the puppets on the main screen, featuring SNAKES ON A BUS and puppet Beck praying to the Raiders' logo: "Please lord Raider, give me the power to rock harder than muse." Hah. Access denied.

They closed out the night with E-pro. It was a good move.

ALSO OF NOTE: Having switched to the beta version of blogger, we're going to go back and categorize all the posts by author. In case any of you want that. None of you do. So expect it to be finished eventually.
